Privacy Policy
Welcome to CouponMad! At CouponMad, we are committed to respecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and how we protect your privacy while you use our website or Chrome extension (together, the “Services”). Please read this document carefully to understand our practices regarding your information.
1. Information We Collect
We do not require an account, name, or email address to browse the website or use the extension. Our analytics and advertising providers may nevertheless assign pseudonymous identifiers and receive device, browser, page, merchant, and feature interaction data as described below. We use this information to understand service usage, diagnose failures, and improve CouponMad.
2. Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how people interact with our Services. On the website, Google Analytics may receive device and browser information, pages visited, and service interactions, and may use cookies subject to the consent choices described below. Extension analytics use a random install ID stored in extension storage. To learn more about Google's processing and available controls, review Google's Privacy Policy and Google Analytics opt-out options.
3. Google Ads
Our website may use Google Ads to display targeted ads that are relevant to our users. Google Ads may collect data about your interaction with these ads, and Google may use cookies or similar technologies to display ads based on your past visits to our website or other websites. You can control your ad preferences or opt out of personalized ads through Google's Ad Settings.
4. Affiliate Links and Third-Party Websites
We partner with third-party affiliate programs to provide you with the latest discounts and offers. CouponMad may earn a commission when you choose an eligible offer link, at no additional cost to you. When you select a discount or merchant link, you may be redirected to a third-party website. These sites have their own privacy policies, which we encourage you to review.
5. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
We may use cookies or similar tracking technologies to enhance your experience on our website, which includes services like Google Analytics and Google Ads, alongside Microsoft Clarity and PostHog. Cookies help us analyze website usage and measure advertising effectiveness. These run by default and you may opt out at any time through the “Privacy & cookie settings” link in the footer. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland the reverse applies: Google Consent Mode holds analytics and advertising storage in a cookieless mode, and Clarity and PostHog do not run at all, until you opt in. You can also manage or disable cookies through your browser settings. The extension does not use browser cookies for its own analytics; it uses the random install ID described in Sections 2 and 6.
6. Chrome Extension Data and Permissions
After you open the extension popup, CouponMad derives a merchant key from the active tab and matches it locally against the bundled coupon catalogue. Extension usage analytics may include the random install ID, matched merchant key, locale, feature action, optional coupon UUID, and boolean or count metadata. They do not include page content, coupon codes, destination URLs, names, email addresses, or other direct identifiers.
If available and invoked through the popup, the AI coupon scan reads a bounded excerpt of the active page and processes it with the browser's on-device model. The page excerpt is not included in analytics events.
The extension uses activeTab to access the page selected by the user, tabs to read that tab's URL and open a selected merchant destination, storage for the random install ID and preferences, and scripting for the user-invoked on-device scan. Affiliate destinations open only after a visible Copy Code, Get Deal, or Shop Now action. CouponMad does not silently inject or replace affiliate links, codes, or cookies in the background.
7. Data Retention and Choices
Website consent controls are available through the “Privacy & cookie settings” link in the footer. You can remove the extension's locally stored random install ID by uninstalling the extension or clearing its storage. Analytics events already sent to service providers are retained according to our configured retention settings and those providers' policies.
8. Children's Privacy
We do not knowingly collect information from children under the age of 18. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected such information, we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
9. International Users
This Website is primarily intended for users in Taiwan. By accessing our Website, you consent to the processing of information as described in this Privacy Policy, in compliance with the relevant data protection laws of Taiwan.
10. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the Services and minimize the information included in analytics events. Analytics and advertising information is also processed by third-party providers such as Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity, PostHog, and Google Ads under their security practices. No internet transmission or storage system is entirely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes in our practices, the services we offer, or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. When changes are made, we will update the date at the top of this document.
12. Contact Us
